CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College softball team will head to central Alabama on Tuesday (Feb. 27) for a non-conference doubleheader against Miles College. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at the Miles Softball Field across from
Bethel Baptist Church.
THE SERIES
The Lady Choctaws are 5-0 all-time against the Golden Bears with each of the five meetings taking place in the last three years. In 2016, MC swept a doubleheader from Miles, while they won all three meetings in 2017.
In the series finale between the teams in Montevallo, Ala. on February 11th, the Lady Choctaws erased a 4-1 lead in the 5th inning on their way to a 5-4 victory. Lauren Mulligan homered in the game, while
Carly Crawford's two-run double tied things up.
Katherine Lee gave the Lady Choctaws the win on a walk-off single to score Haley Thompson.

Brooke O'Hair, are coming off a tough series at West Georgia that saw them open things with a thrilling 9-8 victory in extra innings. The Wolves bounced back with a pair of wins in Saturday's doubleheader to take the series.
Junior
Penny Nichols (1-2, 5.92 ERA) appeared to be rounding back into form, tossing 16.2 innings in the series, including going 10.2 frames in the extra inning win on Friday. The Orange City, Fla. native gave up just six hits and two earned runs in the 4-3 loss on Saturday.
Junior
Brianna Caldwell (.325) was the offensive star for the Lady Choctaws last weekend, hitting three home runs in the Saturday doubleheader, including two in the series finale. She has a team-high five home runs and is slugging .750 on the season. Junior
Kristen Qualls (.349) leads the team with three doubles, 14 RBI and 10 runs scored on the early season.

The Golden Bears, led by head coach Patrick Peasant, have faced four Gulf South Conference opponents this season, going 0-7 in those contests. In their last game, Miles fell behind 7-0 in the early innings of a 9-3 loss to Mississippi Valley State. Jazzmyn Shelton and Alexus Gonzalez led the way with two hits apiece.
Davis Watkins (.333) is the team's leading hitter with three doubles, two home runs and three RBI to pace the squad. Ombreyah Daly (.303) has a team-best two triples. Kendruena McPherson (.214) leads the team with nine stolen bases and is tied with Watkins for the team-high with six runs scored.
McPherson (0-4, 5.56 ERA) is also the team's leader in the circle, striking out a team-best 22 batters in 39.0 innings. Magen Rich (0-9, 13.00 ERA) has started a team-high nine games but has allowed 39 base on balls in 35.0 innings.
