MIAMI SHORES, Fl. --- The Mississippi College Women's Soccer team made history with their first NCAA tournament victory in program history with their 3-0 win over Nova Southeastern this afternoon. With the win the Lady Choctaws will advance to the South Sub-Regional Final on Sunday Nov. 11th against the #2 seed and host Barry University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- MC was the aggressor in the first half firing off 13 shots with four on goal. The Lady Choctaws outshot the Sharks 13 to 4 in the first half.
- The Lady Choctaws were able to strike first in the 32nd minute when
Rita Okoro blasted a shot from 30 yards out that sailed over the head of the Sharks goalkeeper giving MC the early 1-0 lead.

Katie Taylor was able to extend the Lady Choctaws' lead in the 39th minute. Taylor was able to strike one past the keeper from the top of the 18 yard box with the assist going to both
Emily McNair and
Lauren Smith.
- In the second half the Sharks came out more aggressive but MC was able to counter their attack in the 57th on a long ball that was handled by
Lindsey Stephenson who made a nice move to get by the Nova goalkeeper and made the score 3-0 in favor of the Lady Choctaws.
- The Lady Choctaw Defense was able to hold strong throughout the rest of the second half to secure the 3-0 victory.

- The Lady Choctaws were the more aggressive team throughout the match out shooting the Sharks 18 to 11. Â
- In goal
Andrea McDonald had a stellar performance posting her fourth shutout of the season and recording a season high six saves.
- The win marked the first time in program history that the Lady Choctaws won a match in NCAA tournament play. This appearance is the second in program history and the team will have a chance to advance to the South Regional final in their next match against Barry University.

- The Lady Choctaws will advance to the South Sub-Regional final against the host and #2 seed Barry with a spot in the South Regional Final on the line.
