CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's soccer team will close out the 2018 regular season this weekend at Robert P. Longabaugh Field with a pair of Gulf South Conference matches first against West Florida on Thursday Oct. 25 and then against Spring Hill on Saturday Oct. 27.
MC NOTES
- The Choctaws will bring in an overall record of 6-5-1 into the weekend and a GSC record 0f 4-4-1.
- MC is coming into the final week of the season needing two GSC wins to qualify for the GSC post season tournament. The Choctaws are currently in seventh place and the top six teams will go to the GSC post season tournament next week.
- The players to watch this weekend for the Choctaws are
Connor Johnson,
Rafael Costa,
Wanner Paiz and
Victor Bazan. Johnson is the team's leading goal scorer with six on the season. Paiz and Bazan each have three goals on the year and Costa is the leader of the back line and has two goals with two assists this season.
- Before Saturday's match against Spring Hill, the Choctaws will be honoring three seniors with "Senior Day" festivities. The three seniors being honored are:
Rafael Costa,
Andy Alanis and
Wanner Paiz.
WEST FLORIDA NOTES
- The Argonauts will bring in an overall record of 9-3-2 into Thursday's match and a GSC record of 7-1-1.
- UWF is coming off a heart breaking 5-4 overtime loss to Spring Hill this past Sunday. The loss dropped the Argos to second in the GSC standings and gave Spring Hill sole possession of first place in the conference
- The top players to watch for the Argos are Sean Hoffstatter and Ed Chappe. Hoffstatter is the team leader in goals scored with an impressive 16 goals on the season so far and Chappe is a pure playmaker with eight goals and five assists on the year.
SPRING HILL NOTES
- The Badgers will bring in an overall record of 13-1-0 into Saturday's match and a GSC record of 9-0.
- Spring Hill currently sits on top of the GSC standings coming into the final week of play. The Badgers have been impressive all year with three overtime GSC wins and they have outscored opponents 42 to 19 on the year.
- The top players to watch for the Badgers are Alex Lipinski, Cyril Giraud and Matthew Moreno. Lipinski is the team's leading goal scorer with 12 on the year. Giraud, just a freshman, has netted 6 goals with 5 assists on the year and Moreno has scored five goals with four assist on the season.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Choctaws will bring in an all-time record of 4-1 against West Florida with the last meeting between the two being a 2-0 victory for MC in Pensacola, Fl. a year ago.
- MC has an all-time record of 7-4 against Spring Hill with the last meeting between the two schools ending in a 2-1 overtime victory for the Choctaws in Mobile, Ala. a year ago.

- Due to the threat of inclement weather the time and location are subject to change. Currently both matches are scheduled to take play at Robert P. Longabaugh Field and start at the originally scheduled time of 3:30 P.M. until further notice.
