CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team will be back on the road this weekend in a pair of Gulf South Conference matches. First they will travel to face Montevallo on Friday Oct. 19 and then finish the trip at Auburn Montgomery on Sunday Oct. 21.
MC NOTES
- The Lady Choctaws will bring into the weekend an overall record of 11-1-0 and a record of 9-0-0 in GSC play.
- MC is coming off a pair of 1-0 victories this past weekend over West Georgia and Valdosta State. The game winners were scored by
Lauren Smith and
Emma Claire Furman and both goals came past the 80
th minute of play.
- Furman, with her game winner, became the team's leading goal scorer netting 5 on the season so far. Unfortunately for the Lady Choctaws the team's second leading goal scorer
Jess Davenport went down with a season ending injury in last Sunday's match against Valdosta State.
- With Davenport out, the Lady Choctaws will look for Smith, Furman, Captain's
Katie Taylor and
Samantha Carson along with
Rita Okoro to pick up the slack offensively.
- Defensively the Lady Choctaws have been solid all year thanks to the back line lead by
Liza Wise,
Gaylynn Cooper and
Scarlett Hodges. In addition to the back line,
Gabby Kayser has been phenomenal in goal.
- Overall Kayser has had an impressive season to this point, posting six shutouts with 38 saves and has only allowed two goals in GSC play. She was named GSC Defender of the Week for a second time this season for her efforts against West Georgia and Valdosta State.
MONTEVALLO NOTES
- The Falcons will bring into Friday's match an overall record of 6-5-2 and a record of 5-4-0 in GSC play.
- Montevallo is coming off a 3-1 victory over in-state rival Auburn Montgomery this past Sunday.
- The top three playmakers to watch for the Falcons are Romee Contreras, Allye Darnell and Medhali Hernandez. All three of these players have scored five goals this season for the Flacons and Contreras is also the team leader in assists with four.
AUBURN MONTGOMERY NOTES
- The Warhawks will bring into Sunday's match an overall record of 2-9-0 and a record of 2-7 in GSC play.
- AUM is currently riding a three game losing streak that started back on Oct. 5
th and they have been outscored in that stretch 10 to 3.
- The Warhawks star player is Ruby Mendez. Mendez has had an amazing season for AUM scoring a team high 12 goals and notching two assists on the season so far.

SERIES HISTORY
- The Lady Choctaws are 2-0 all-time against Montevallo, with the last meeting between the pair being a 2-1 victory at Robert P. Longabaugh Field a year ago.
- MC has an all-time record of 1-0 against Auburn Montgomery with the lone meeting between the two schools being a 3-2 victory on Senior Day last year for the Lady Choctaws.
