Men's Soccer Preview: Montevallo and Auburn Montgomery

CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's soccer team will be back on the road this weekend in a pair of Gulf South Conference matches. First they will travel to face Montevallo on Friday Oct. 19 and then finish the trip at Auburn Montgomery on Sunday Oct. 21.
   
MC NOTES
- The Choctaws are will bring into the weekend an overall record of 6-4-0 into the weekend and a record of 4-3-0 in GSC play.  
- MC is coming off of the bye week in their season that gave the Choctaws a chance to rest up for their two match GSC road slate this weekend.
- The last time out for the Choctaws resulted in a 3-1 victory over Union on Oct. 7. MC was able to score three goals in the second half to overcome a one goal deficit to beat the Bulldogs.  
- The Choctaws offense has been explosive throughout the year. Captain Connor Johnson is the team's leading goal scorer with six on the year. MC also has four other Choctaws that have scored three or more goals on the year. Wanner Paiz, Victor Bazan, Joshua Robinson and Tom Carles have all be offensive threats this season.
 
MONTEVALLO NOTES
- The Falcons will bring into Friday's match an overall record of 3-9-0 and a record of 2-4-0 in GSC play.
- Montevallo is coming off of a 3-1 victory over in-state rival Auburn Montgomery this past Sunday. That victory over AUM ended a five match losing streak for the Falcons.
- The top two playmakers for the Falcons are Arad Lev and Liam Moore. Lev is the team's leading goal scorer with four on the season and Moore has netted three goals with three assists on the year.

AUBURN MONTGOMERY NOTES
- The Warhawks will bring into Sunday's match an overall record of 2-10-1 and a record of 1-5-1 in GSC play.
- AUM is currently on a two match losing streak and hasn't been in the win column since Sept. 23rd when they captured a 2-1 overtime victory over Shorter.
- The top two playmakers to watch for the Warhawks are Billy Murphy and Tate Dean. Both Murphy and Dean have each scored three goals on the season are tied for the team lead in goals scored.
     
SERIES HISTORY
- MC has an all-time record of 0-0-1 against Montevallo with the lone meeting between the two ending in a 1-1 draw after double overtime a year ago.
The Choctaws have an all-time record of 1-1-0 against Auburn Montgomery with the last meeting between the two schools was a big 6-0 victory for the MC on Senior Day last year.  

MATCH COVERAGE
- Live stats and live video will be available for both matches this weekend (weather permitting). The live stats and live video can be found on Montevallo's and Auburn Montgomery's athletics websites.
- Friday's Match against Montevallo is scheduled to kick-off at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday's match against Auburn Montgomery is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
 

Mississippi College is a private Christian university located in Clinton, Mississippi with an enrollment of over 5,000 students. MC recently finished their transition process back to NCAA Division II and the Gulf South Conference and will be competing for conference and national championships in the 2018-19 academic year.
