CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's soccer team will continue Gulf South Conference play this weekend by hosting Christian Brothers University on Friday, and Union University on Sunday.

MC NOTES
- The Choctaws (7-0-1, 6-0 GSC) head into this weekend's action sitting atop the Gulf South Conference in first place. The Choctaw are currently riding a six match win streak, dating back to Sept. 8.
- In their most recent action, MC knocked off West Florida 2-0 on Friday, Sept. 22 and defeated Spring Hill 2-1 in overtime on Sunday, Sept. 24.
- In the most recent United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Poll, the Choctaws came in at #16, their highest ranking in the poll since becoming a full-time member of Division II. The Choctaws also checked in at number three in the South Regional Rankings compiled by the United Soccer Coaches Association.

Marco Profumo was recognized on Tuesday, Sept. 26 as the Gulf South Conference Player of the Week. Profumo scored both of MC's goals in their 2-0 defeat of West Florida on Friday, and assisted on the game-winning goal in overtime in MC's 2-1 victory over Spring Hill on Sunday. The accolade marked for the third straight week in which an MC men's soccer player was honored with the Player of the Week Award in the conference.
- The Choctaws go into the weekend leading the GSC in virtually every offensive statistic. The Choctaws pace the conference in goals scored (19), goals scored per game (2.375), shots taken (144), shots per game (18), shots on goal (66), shots on goal per game (8.25), points (54), points per game (6.75) asissts (16) and assists per game (2.0).
- Senior Midfielder
Horacio Gutierrez Jr. leads both the Choctaws and conference with five goals scored and 10 points accumulated on the season.
Victor Bazan,
Connor Johnson, Profumo and
Dinho Zwane all rank second on the team with three goals scored.
- Senior midfielder
Jacob Farthing leads both the Choctaws and the GSC with four assists on the season. Bazan,
Rafael Costa, Johnson, and
Michael Kuwornu all place second on the team with two assists each.
- On defense, the Choctaws have allowed just six goals in eight matches, for an average of 0.75 per match.
- In goal, Senior
Humberto Pelaez has amassed a record of 7-0-1 on the 2017 season. Peleaz currently ranks second in conference in shutouts, with three on the year.
- Pelaez's 29 career victories in goal for MC rank for second in program history. The Panama City, Panama native needs just two more wins to surpass former MC keeper Andrew Dailey (30) as the all-time MC leader in career wins.

CHRISTIAN BROTHERS NOTES
- The Bucs (4-3, 3-0 GSC) head into Friday's action sitting in second place in the GSC Standings.
- In their most recent action, the Bucs defeated Lee University 1-0 on Friday, Sept. 22 and bested Shorter University 3-1 on Sunday, Sept. 24.
- On the offensive side of the ball, The Bucs have scored 10 goals in seven games, for an average of 1.43 per contest.
- Brendan Bennett (4) and Djordje Djordjovic (3) have combined for seven of the Bucs 10 goals on the season. Bennett currently ranks tied for 2
nd in the conference in goals scored. Both Djordjovic and Xavi Lao lead the CBU attack with two assists each.
- The Buccaneer defense has allowed nine goals in 2017, for an average of 1.29 allotted per match. Goalkeeper Viktor Hoestbo brings a goals against average of 0.49 into the weekend, a mark that leads all GSC keepers.

UNION NOTES
- The Bulldogs (0-6, 0-3 GSC) come into the weekend looking for their GSC victory of the 2017 season.
- The Bulldogs dropped a pair of GSC matches in their most recent action last weekend to Shorter and Lee.
- The Union attack is currently averaging 0.83 goals per game, while averaging 14.5 shots and 5.5 shots on goal per contest.
- Paul Longford leads the way offensively for the Bulldogs, with two goals scored on the season. Three other Bulldogs have accounted for a goal scored on the year. Andre Silva is responsible for the lone Bulldog assist on the season.
- Silva currently leads all GSC players in shots taken per match, averaging 3.67 on the year.
- The Union defense is currently averaging 2.33 goals allowed per match, having allowed 14 goals in six games.
- In goal, keeper Nyberg Casper (0-6) brings a goals against average of 2.26 into the weekend.
- Prior to Sunday's match with MC, the Bulldogs will travel to Cleveland, Miss. to take on Delta State on Friday, Sept. 29

SERIES HISTORY
- The Choctaws sport an all-time record of 2-2 against Christian Brothers, and a mark of 2-0-1 against Union. In their most recent meetings in 2016, MC bested Christian Brothers 2-0 and defeated Union 2-1. Both of those contests were played at home.
