HUNTSVILLE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College softball team opened the Gulf South Conference Tournament with a 4-2 come-from-behind win over Lee University on Saturday night at Charger Park on the campus of Alabama Huntsville.
The Lady Choctaws (32-18) will now move on to the GSC semi-finals where they will face #10 West Florida at 12:30 p.m. at Charger Park.

TURNING POINT
- Sophomore
Kristen Qualls hit her 9th home run of the season with two outs in the fifth inning to give MC a 3-2 advantage, their first lead of the night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Flames (33-18) got things going with the first batter of the game as Stevie Baird hit a leadoff home run to right-center field and grab a 1-0 lead.
- Brooklynn Frazier's two-out RBI single through the right side extended the Lee lead to 2-0 as MC went into the fourth trailing by two runs.
- The Lady Choctaws finally got on the scoreboard in the fourth with five straight singles, including an RBI infield single by sophomore

- Pinch-hitter
Shelby Miller tied things up with a sacrifice fly to right field that scored pinch-runner
Brister Curry.
- Qualls gave MC the lead for good in the fifth with a deep shot to right-center field that made the score 3-2.
- In the sixth inning, senior
Haley Thompson added an insurance run with a single up the middle to score Harmon and give the game its final score of 4-2.
- Sophomore
Adrianna Morgan retired the Flames in order in the seventh to close out the complete-game victory in the circle.

KEY STATS
- The former Madison Central standouts, Harmon and Qualls, each had a team-high two hits for MC, while four different Lady Choctaws scored runs.
- Morgan (8-5) gave up just four hits and two earned runs with four walks and four strikeouts over 7.0 innings.
- Leigh Beatenbough (16-9) took the loss for Lee, giving up six hits and three runs over 5.0 innings.

NEXT UP
- The Lady Choctaws will face #2 seed West Florda in the semi-finals of the GSC Tournament at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. The winner moves on to the finals to be played at 3:00 p.m. against the winner of the UAH/Valdosta State game.
