CLINTON, Miss. --- For the first time in school history, the Mississippi College softball team will make an appearance in the NCAA Division II Softball Championships when they open the South Regional 1 on Thursday in Pensacola, Fla.
The four-team, double-elimination tournament is being hosted by the University of West Florida with the winner advancing to the Super Regional stage next weekend. #1 West Florida, #4 Mississippi College, #5 Valdosta State and #8 Claflin will compete in this weekend's regional.

The Lady Choctaws are the #4 seed in the South Region after winning the Gulf South Conference Tournament championship in Huntsville, Ala. last weekend. After a couple tight, come-from-behind victories over Lee and West Florida, MC cruised to a 18-5 win over UAH in the champioinship game to win the school's first-ever softball conference title.
Junior
Katherine Lee (.391) is the team's leading hitter this season, pacing the squad with 68 hits, which is the second-best single-season total in school history. Freshman
Carly Crawford (.351) joined Lee on the NFCA All-South Region and All-GSC First Team, while senior
Tylan Buckley (.362) was a First Team All-GSCÂ and Second Team All-South Region honoree.
Sophomore
Adrianna Morgan (9-5, 2.94 ERA) was named to the GSC All-Tournament Team last week after picking up two victories in the single-elimination tournament. Freshman
Jordan Holifield (6-3, 2.93 ERA) and junior
Kristen Gardner (3-3, 3.50 ERA) each saw big innings in the tournament wins.

TICKETS
Tickets can be purchased at the gate. Daily passes can be purchased for $5, while seniors, youth (6-17) and college students with a valid university ID can buy tickets for $3. Children and the first 100 UWF students with a valid ID will be admitted FREE.

VENUE
The UWF Softball Complex has been home to West Florida softball since 1986. Located in the East Sports Complex, the Argonauts play in front of a 250-seat grandstand and field level press box. The UWF Softball Complex was the site of the 1998 NCAA Division II National Championships, and the NAIA World Series in 1990 and 1992.

Mississippi College is a private Christian university located in Clinton, Mississippi with an enrollment of over 5,000 students. MC is recently finished their transition process back to NCAA Division II and the Gulf South Conference and will be competing for conference and national championships in the 2016-17 academic year.
