CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College softball team dropped the final game of a three-series with North Alabama, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon at the MC Softball Complex.
The Lady Choctaws (25-14, 16-8 GSC) swept the Saturday doubleheader, ensuring a series win over the Lions (24-14, 14-10 GSC).
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams cruised through the first two innings on Sunday as the first 11 batters that came to the plate were retired before freshman
Carly Crawford drew a two-out walk in the second inning.
- UNA put all their runs on the board in the third inning, thanks in part to three errors by the MC defense.
- After a leadoff single by McKenna Ray, Katie Parr reached on an error and both runners moved up to second and third on a sacrifice bunt by Amy Carden.
- Sabrina Gilliam drove in the eventual game-winning run with a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring pinch-runner Morgan Daniel on what would have been the third out of the inning.
- Following an infield single and a double-steal that pushed the lead to 2-0, Shelby Woodard gave the game its final score with a two-run home run to center field.
- The Lady Choctaws had their best chance to score in the fourth inning when senior
Tylan Buckley led off with a double, but MC was unable to move her over.
