CARROLLTON, Ga. --- The Mississippi College women's tennis team opened up Gulf South Conference play for the 2017 season with a 9-0 victory over West Georgia on Saturday afternoon. With the win, MC improves to 4-3 on the year.

In double's number action,
Brenna Keller and
Aneta Golawska defeated Jordan England and Gabby Chanthaphaeng 8-3 for their team-best sixth double's victory of the season.Â
AnneMarie Kimball and
Anna Shuliak, and
Sofia Gonzalez-Carrera and
Christa Owen both downed their double's opponents 8-4.

In single's play, Kimball (6-1, 6-0), and
Katie Reid (6-2, 6-1) picked up their team-leading fourth singles victories of the season in straight sets. Golawska (6-1, 6-0), Owen (6-4, 6-1) and Gonzalez-Carrera (6-1, 6-0) all also won their matches in straight sets. The Lady Choctaws did not drop a set in both singles and doubles play all day.

The Lady Choctaws will return to action on Thursday, March 9 when they travel to Livingston, Ala. to take on the University of West Alabama in a GSC showdown. First serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
