CLEVELAND, Miss. --- For the third consecutive match, the Mississippi College women's tennis team did not drop a single set en route to a 9-0 victory on Wednesday afternoon. With the win over conference and instate rival Delta State, the Lady Choctaws improve to 8-4 overall, and 3-1 in Gulf South Conference play.
In singles play,
Katie Reid (8-0) and
AnneMarie Kimball (6-2, 6-3) both picked up their team-leading seventh singles victory of the season.
Brenna Keller (6-0, 6-1),
Aneta Golawska (6-4, 6-2),
Sofia Gonzalez-Carrera (6-4, 6-1) and
Anna Shuliak (6-1, 6-0) all picked up victories in straight sets.
In Doubles action, Keller and Golawska reached the double-digit milestone, picking up their team-best 10
th win as a duo on the season in an 8-4 defeat of Nathalia Sato and Alex Howe in the number one matchup. Kimball and Shuliak knocked off Sara Alvarez-Rubio Charlotte Le Flohic 8-4 in the number two spot, and
Christa Owen and Gonzalez Carrera bested Sarah Nash and Madison Wages 8-2 in the number three matchup.
The Lady Choctaws will return to action on Friday, March 24 when they host Shorter University in a GSC tilt. Match time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
