MEMPHIS, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College women's tennis team knocked off the Lady Bucs of Christian Brothers University 9-0 in a Gulf South Conference match on Sunday afternoon. It was the second time in as many matches that the Lady Choctaws shutout their opponent without dropping a set all day. MC's third consecutive win improves them to 7-4 overall, and 2-1 in GSC play.
In singles play,
AnneMarie Kimball bested Lauren Woog in the number two matchup in straight sets for her team-high sixth victory of the year (7-5, 6-4).
Brenna Keller (6-3, 6-1),
Aneta Golawska (7-5, 6-4),
Sofia Gonzalez-Carrera (6-4, 6-3),
Anna Shuliak (6-0, 6-2) and
Christa Owen (6-1, 6-4) all also downed their opponents in straight sets.
In doubles action, Keller and Golawska picked up their team-leading ninth victory as a duo with an 8-1 rout of Rachel Farmer and Lauren Woog in the number one spot. Kimball and Shuliak improved to 8-3 as a pair with their 8-3 victory over Meg Mattis and Tara McElroy in the number two matchup. Owens and Gonzalez-Career grabbed their sixth doubles victory on the season with their 8-5 win against Melody Mays and Brittany Weathersby int he number three spot.
The Lady Choctaws will return to action on Wednesday, March 22 when they take on in-state conference rival Delta State in Cleveland, Miss. Match time is slated for 2:00 p.m.
