MOBILE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College women's tennis team downed Spring Hill College in dominant fashion on Monday afternoon. The Lady Choctaws did not drop a single set in route to a 9-0 shutout victory. With the win, MC improves to 6-4 overall on the year
In singles play,
Aneta Golawska (6-2, 6-0),
Katie Reid (6-1, 6-1) and
Courtney Schrock (6-0, 6-0) all won their matchups in straight sets.
Karly Matthews defeated Kate Sotolongo 8-1, while
Laura VanHorn downed Brenda Carrada 8-0 for her first victory of the 2017 season. Freshman
Isis Dawson picked up her first collegiate win with an 8-4 defeat of Elizabeth Peters.
In doubles competition,
Brenna Keller and Golawska defeated Maria Hastings Oro and Madison Artigues 8-1 in the number one matchup.
AnneMarie Kimball and
Anna Shuliak won 8-2 in the number two match spot, and
Christa Owen and
Sofia Gonzalez-Carrera won 8-1 in the number three matchup.
The Lady Choctaws will return to action on Sunday, March 19 when they travel to Memphis, Tenn. To take on Christian Brothers in a GSC contest. First serve is slated for 2:00 p.m.
