Arkadelphia, ARK. --- The Mississippi College women's tennis team defeated Central Texas College 8-1 in an exhibition match, and later shutout the Reddies of Henderson State University 9-0 in day one of the Ouachita Baptist Tournament on Friday. With the win, MC picks up their first victory of the year and improves their record to 1-3.

In doubles action vs. Henderson State, the duo of
Sofia Gonzalez-Carrera and
Christa Owen picked up their first win as partners for the 2017 season (8-2).Â
Brenna Keller and
Aneta Golawska (8-3), and
AnneMarie Kimball and
Anna Shuliak (8-4) also cruised their way to victories for the Lady Choctaws in doubles.

In singles play versus the Reddies, Keller (6-3, 6-2), Kimball (6-0, 6-3) and Owen (6-3, 6-3) all picked up their first wins of the season. The Lady Choctaws dominated from start to finish, not dropping a set in both singles and doubles action against Henderson State.Â

The Lady Choctaws will return to action tomorrow, when they face off against Maryville University at 8:00 a.m., and wrap up tournament play against Ouachita Baptist at 2:00 p.m.
