CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College softball team opens Gulf South Conference play this weekend when they travel to Pensacola for a three-game series with West Florida.
The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with a single game on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. All three games will be played at the UWF Softball Complex.

ALL-TIME SERIES
MC and West Florida have met 15 previous times with the Argonauts holding a lopsided edge of 14-1 in the series. UWF won the first 11 meeting, dating back to MC's first softball season in 1986. The two schools met in Pensacola back in 2015, which was the Lady Choctaws' first year back in the GSC. UWF won the first two games of the series before MC salvaged a contest with a 7-4 win in the finale. Last season, the Argos came to Clinton and swept the Lady Choctaws.

-Â The MC softball program is just six wins away from 700 with the first coming on March 22, 1986 in a 6-2 victory over Tennessee-Martin in Florence, AL.

Brooke O'Hair is only 16 wins away from 300, posting a .605 winning percentage in her 11th season. She has recorded 5-of-6 30-win seasons in school history.
- Since re-joining the Gulf South Conference in the 2015, the Lady Choctaws are 2-4 in league-opening series. MC went 2-1 at Christian Brothers (2015) and 0-3 at Delta State (2016).

Megan Everett is just 18 games away from breaking the school record for games played in a career. The Pearland, Texas native is looking to pass
Kimmie Conley (2013-16), who played 183 games.

Lauren Mulligan hit the first two home runs of her career at the "Falcon Frenzy" last weekend in Montevallo. The New Orleans native had two solo shots against Indianapolis and Miles.
- UWF junior Sarah Maloney was named the GSC Pitcher of the Week in the first week of the season, tossing a no-hitter against Missouri-St. Louis with nine stikeouts.
- West Florida was picked to finish 4th in the GSC Preseason Poll and are currently receiving votes in the NFCA Top 25 Poll.
- Mississippi College was picked to finish 6th in the GSC Preseason Poll.
