CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team will take to the road this weekend, with Gulf South Conference matches against West Georgia on Friday, Oct. 6 and North Alabama on Sunday. Oct. 8.

MC NOTES
- The Lady Choctaws (8-1-1, 7-1 GSC) head into this weekend's action riding a season-high four-match win streak, while currently tied with North Alabama for first place in the GSC Standings.
- In their most recent action, the Lady Choctaws knocked off Christian Brothers 3-0 on Friday, Sept. 29 and Union University 6-1 on Sunday, Oct. 1.
- In the latest United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Poll, the Lady Choctaws found themselves at number 17, their highest ranking in the poll since becoming a member of Division II. The Lady Choctaws also found themselves at number two in the South Regional Rankings compiled by the United Soccer Coaches.
- The Lady Choctaws feature one of the most efficient defenses in the entire country, with a 0.29 goals against average that leads the GSC and ranks fifth in the entire country. The Lady Choctaws have allowed just three goals all season.
- Junior goalkeeper
Andrea McDonald's 0.24 goals against average is a mark that paces all GSC goalies, and ranks eighth in the entire country. McDonald (6-1-1) also paces the GSC with six shutouts, and leads the conference in save percentage at .941; a mark that finds her ranked eighth in the entire nation.
- On the offensive side of the ball, the Lady Choctaws are averaging 1.9 goals per match, a mark that ranks fourth in the GSC. MC has distributed the wealth equally on the season, having netted 10 goals in the first period, and nine in the second.
- MC's 155 shots through 10 games played makes for an average of 15.5 shots per contest. Of the Lady Choctaws 155, shots, 68 have come on goal, for an average of 6.8 per match.
- Junior forward
Lauren Smith currently paces the Lady Choctaws in total points (11), goals (4) and ties for the team lead in assists (3). Sophomore forward
Emma Claire Furman sits in second on the team with three goals scored, while
Lauren Kate Carter,
Caitlin Hayes and
Katie Taylor have all netted a pair of goals on the year.
- In the assist stat column, Carter,
Madison Moser and Smith all lead the Lady Choctaws with three accounted for on the season.

WEST GEORGIA NOTES
- The Wolves (5-5, 4-4 GSC) are coming off of a midweek 6-0 victory over Georgia Southwestern on Wednesday, Oct. 4.
- West Georgia's previous weekend of GSC action saw them drop a 1-0 contest to Lee on Friday, Sept. 29 and defeat Shorter 2-1 on Sunday, Oct. 1.
- Seven of the Wolves' nine matches have been decided by one goal, including two overtime losses in their first five matches on the year.
- On offense, West Georgia has scored 13 goals in nine games, for an average of 1.44 per contest. The Wolves mark of 17 shots per match currently ranks 5
th in the conference.
- Francessca Ellis paces the Wolves' attack with three goals scored on the season, in addition to leading the team with two assists. Nikki Conte and Katie Mitchell both sit behind Ellis, with two goals scored a piece.
- The Wolf defense is currently allowing 1.22 goals per contest, while surrendering an average of 13.2 shots per match.
- In goal, keeper Jackie Donaldson (4-5) brings a goals against average of 1.19 into Friday's matchup, with three shutouts that rank for second in the conference.

NORTH ALABAMA NOTES
- The Lions head into this weekend tied with the Lady Choctaws in the GSC Standings, with a mark of 7-1 against conference opponents and an overall record of 8-2.
- In their most recent action, North Alabama defeated Shorter University 3-1 on Friday, Sept. 29 and fell 1-0 to Lee on Sunday, Oct. 1
- In the most recent United Soccer Coaches' NCAA Divison II Poll, the Lions were treceiving votes. North Alabama had been ranked as high as number eight in previous week's polling. The Lions found themselves two spots behind the Lady Choctaws at number fourr in the South Regional Rankings.
- Sunday's loss versus Lee snapped an eight-match win streak for the lions, which included a seven-match win streak against GSC opponents to begin conference play.
- On offense, the Lions have scored 21 goals through 10 games, averaging 2.1 per match. Both are numbers that rank third in the conference.
- Midfielder Shelby Wall currently paces the Gulf South Conference with 51 shots taken on the year, averaging 5.1 per contest. Forward Kylie Huey's six goals scored on the season rank her third in the conference, while her three game-winning scores rank second among GSC individuals. Wall (5) and Huey (6) have combined for 11 of the team's 21 scores on the year.
- In the assist stat column, Kristen Sinden (5) and Beatriz Fernandes (4) have accounted for nine of the Lion's 17 assists on the year. Sinden's five assists rank for second in the conference, while Fernandes's ranks for fourth.
- In goal, Shelby Thornton (8-2) brings a goals against average of 1.21 into Sunday's contest, with two shutouts recorded on the season.
- Prior to their match versus MC, the Lions will host Delta State on Friday. Oct. 6.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Lady Choctaws bring an all-time record of 3-0-1 against West Georgia, and a mark of 0-3 versus North Alabama.
- In 2016, the Lady Choctaws bested the Wolves twice, with a 2-0 victory on Oct. 9 in Clinton, and a 2-1 overtime victory in round one of the GSC Postseason Tournament on Nov. 1. The Lady Choctaws fell 2-1 in overtime to the Lions in their most recent meeting on Oct. 16 of last season in Florence, Ala.
