CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College football team dropped their 2017 "Homecoming" game on Saturday afternoon, falling to #24 West Georgia by a score of 28-0, in a weather-shortened game at Robinson-Hale Stadium.
The Choctaws (0-8, 0-6 GSC) and the Wolves (6-2, 3-2 GSC) saw their contest delayed with 1:15 remaining in the third quarter, and the game was not able to be resumed as UWG was declared the winner.

TURNING POINT
- The Choctaw defense started the game strong, forcing three total turnovers and holding the Wolves scoreless for the first 23 minutes of the game. With 6:58 remaining in the second quarter, Willie Candler found Brooks Shannon for a 37-yard touchdown pass, and UWG would not look back on their way to the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- MC's defense came out on a mission over the first five drives, forcing three punts along with senior
Chris Manning picking off his second pass of the season and junior
Colton Magee recovering a fumble forced by junior
Kaleb Coleman.
- The Choctaws also blocked a punt as red-shirt freshman
Dalton Frederick came free for the big play, and sophomore
Drew Croegaert recovered the loose ball, setting MC up at the West Georgia 30-yard line with 1:03 remaining in the first quarter.
- The Wolves got a couple big sacks and pushed MC out of their best scoring chance of the game.
- Candler found Shannon for the touchdown pass a couple of drives later, and then found Shaq Roland for a 20-yard touchdown pass later in the second quarter to make the score 14-0 at halftime.
- Coming out of the break, the MC defense came up with two more stops, including Manning's second interception of the game.
- The Wolves took their next possession, however, and went 36-yards on three plays, capped off by a 16-yard rushing score by Devontae Jackson, making the score 21-0.
- The final play of the game was a sack by Rashad Goode of UWG the led to a fumble recovery return for a touchdown by Ramon Patton for 34 yards.
- The game was delayed following the extra point and called after a 1:40 delay.

- The Choctaws were stymied by the West Georgia defense, picking up just three first downs and 93 total yards of offense on the night.
- The Wolves would put up 350 yards, boasting a balanced attack with 176 rushing yards and 174 passing yards.
- The MC defense forced three turnovers, their most in a contest this season.

Tiberias Lampkin had a team-high 43 rushing yards on nine attempts.
- Senior
Matthew Turcotte punted nine times with an average of 34.6 yards and a long of 50 yards.
- Coleman led the Choctaws with nine tackles, 2.0 TFL and a forced fumble in the game.
- Candler passed for 174 yards and two touchdowns, while Roland caught a team-best four passes for 54 yards.
- Jackson rushed for 143 yards and a score, averaging 7.2 yards per carry.
- Devlyn Cousin and Rashad Goode each had a team-high five tackles, while Goode had a team-high 1.5 sacks.
