CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's soccer team will resume play in Gulf South Conference action on Sunday, Oct. 15 when they host in-state rival Delta State.

MC NOTES
- The Choctaws (8-2-2, 5-2-1 GSC) head into Sunday's match in second place in the GSC standings.
- In their most recent action, the Choctaws fell 2-1 to West Alabama in double overtime on Monday, Oct. 9.
- The Choctaws were receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division II Poll, while checking in at number four in the south region.Â
- On the offensive side of the ball, the Choctaws head into the weekend leading the GSC in shots taken (211), shots per game (17.58), shots on goal (93), shots goal per match (7.75).
- The Choctaws have tallied 22 goals scored through 12 games, for an average of 1.83 per match.Â

Horacio Gutierrez Jr. currently leads the Choctaws with five goals scored on the season. Senior winger
Jacob Farthing leads the Choctaws in points accumulated (12), assists (4), and game-winning strikes (3). Farthing's three game-winning goals currently ranks first among GSC players.
- On defense, the Choctaws have allowed 12 goals through 12 matches on the year, for an average of 1 allotted per contest.
- Keeper
Humberto Pelaez (8-2-2) brings a 0.94 goals against average into Sunday's match, with four shutouts that ranks for third in the GSC.
- Pelaez's 30 career victories in goal rank tied for first in MC history. With a win on Sunday, Pelaez would surpass former MC keeper Andrew Daily for most career wins by an MC goalkeeper.

DELTA STATE NOTES
- The Statesmen (2-10-1, 0-8 GSC) will be looking for their first win in Gulf South Conference action this season on Sunday.
- In their most recent match, DSU fell to Lindenwood University 2-0 in St. Charles, Mo. on Wednesday.
- The Statesman attack has netted six goal in 13 contests, for an average of 0.46 for contest.
- Brock Hollier paces the team with two goals scored in 2017, while four other Statesmen have accounted for the other goals recorded on the year. Myron Duffy leads the Statesmen with two assists on the season.
- On the defensive side of the ball, Delta State has allotted 30 goals in their 13 contests, for an average of 2.31 allowed per contest.
- In goal, Harvey Stevens has seen the bulk of the playing time for the Statesmen, having started in 11 of Delta State's 13 contests. The sophomore keeper (2-7-1), brings a goals against average of 2.05 into Sunday's matchup

- The Choctaws bring an all-time record of 5-4 against Delta State into Sunday's match. In their most recent meeting in 2016, the Choctaws bested the Statesmen 5-0 on Sept. 18.
