CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team will be on the road this weekend for two Gulf South Conference matchups, where they will face The University of West Alabama in Livingston, Ala. on Friday, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville in Huntsville, Ala. on Sunday.
The Lady Choctaws bring an overall record of 5-2-1 into the weekend. MC's last contest saw them defeat Christian Brothers University on Sunday 3-1, improving their GSC record to 2-0-1, a mark good enough for third place in the conference.
Offensively for MC, 10 different players have been responsible for goals scored on the season.
Kyra Montes currently leads all active MC players in points, with six. The freshman forward has accounted for two goals scored and two assists through eight games.
Lauren Smith,
Hannah Bailey and
Samantha Carson have also knocked in two goals apiece.
Lauren Kate Carter,
Emma Claire Furman,
Caitlin Hayes,
Katie Taylor and
Daisy Rodgers have all also contributed for goals this season.
Carter leads all Lady Choctaws with three assists so far. Montes, Furman and
Meghan Mauzy have all helped set up two scores.
In Goal,
Andrea McDonald has converted 20 saves on 29 opportunities, a statistic that puts her at a save percentage of 69 percent. The sophomore goalkeeper is holding opponents to an average of just 1.28 goals per contest.
The Lady Choctaw bring an all-time record of 0-2 into play versus West Alabama, and a 1-1 record versus UAH.
Match time for Friday's contest against West Alabama is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start time.
