CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's soccer team will play host to the Eagles of Pensacola Christian College on Tuesday afternoon at Longabaugh Field.
The Choctaws, fresh off a 5-0 Gulf South Conference victory over Delta State, look to improve on their 2-1-1 record on the year in this midweek matchup.
The Choctaws are led offensively by Senior Midfielder
Jorge Delgado, whose team high five goals leads all players in the GSC. He also leads the Choctaws in points, and is tied for the GSC lead, with 11. His 2.75 points per game average and 1.25 goals per game average both also lead the GSC.
Horacio Gutierrez Jr. leads the Choctaws in assists with two on the year.
Jacob Farthing has accounted for two goals, and an assist. Gutierrez,
Humberto Pelaez and
Marco Profumo have all also tallied goals on the year.
MC has scored 11 goals through five games, good enough for an average of 2.75 goals per contest. They are averaging 14.3 shots per game heading into Tuesday's match.
In goal, Pelaez has converted 18 saves on 23 opportunities, good enough for a save percentage of just over 78 percent. The junior goalkeeper has already recorded two shutouts, and is holding opponents to 1.18 goals per contest; an average that sits alone atop the GSC among qualified goalies.
