CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's soccer team will host the Statesmen of Delta State University in their first Gulf South Conference match on Sunday.
 
MC brings an overall record of 1-1-1 into the Sunday's game. In their most recent contest, the Choctaws dropped a 4-3 decision to Auburn Montgomery in their home opener on Friday, September 9.
 
The Choctaws are led offensively by Jacob Farthing and Jorge Delgado, who have both tallied a team-high two goals on the season. Marco Profumo and Horacio Gutierrez Jr. have also accounted for a goal for the Choctaws on the year. Gutierrez also leads all Choctaws in assists, with two.
 
The Choctaws as a team have taken 41 shots through three games, with 16 being on frame. They are averaging 2.00 goals per game, to go with 13.7 shot per game average.
 
In Goal, Humberto Pelaez has converted 14 saves on 19 opportunities on the year, good enough for a 1.55 goals against average. The junior goalkeeper has played in every minute of competition for the Choctaws so far.
 
The Choctaws bring an all-time record of 4-4 versus the Statesmen into the contest. Delta State took the last meeting between the two 3-1, when they squared off in Cleveland, Miss. on Sept. 16 last season.
