CLINTON, Miss --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team will host a two-game home slate this weekend at Robert P. Longabaugh Field. The Lady Choctaws will play their home opener against Milsapps College on Friday and will host Delta State in their first Gulf South Conference contest on Sunday.
The Lady Choctaws bring a 2-2 record into the weekend, after an opening weekend road trip to Saint Leo, Fla. from Sept. 3-5 that saw the ladies go 1-1; and two neutral-site contests in Florence, Ala. last weekend that yielded the same results.
Jess Davenport leads all Lady Choctaws this season with three goals. The sophomore forward has taken six shots on the year, with three of them being on frame.
Caitlin Hayes has tallied a team-best eight shots on the season, with two shots on goal and one goal scored.
Samantha Carson has also accounted for a goal on the year.
As a team, the Lady Choctaws have taken 34 shots on their young season. They are averaging 8.5 shots per game, and 1.25 goals scored per contest. All five of the Lady Choctaw's goals this season have come in the second half or later.
Freshman
Lauren Kate Carter has accounted for a team-high two assists for the Lady Choctaws. She recorded both of those in a 3-2 victory over Saint Leo on Sept. 5.
Caitlin Hayes has also posted an assist for the Lady Choctaws this season.
In goal,
Andrea McDonald has converted 13 saves on 19 attempts. The sophomore netminder is holding opponents to 1.46 goals per game.
The Lady Choctaws bring an all-time record of 18-1-1 into the matchup against Millsapps. They are a perfect 4-0 versus Delta State.
Friday's game versus Millsaps will serve as a Pediatric Cancer game to help support the fight against childhood cancer during the month of September. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
Sunday's game versus Delta State is scheduled for a 1:30 start time. Live Stats and a video broadcast will be available for both contests.
