Women's Tennis Falls Short at UAH, 7-2

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College women's tennis team lost to the University of Alabama in Huntsville, 7-2, on Saturday afternoon at the Charger Tennis Facility.

The Lady Choctaws (8-9, 3-6 GSC) fell behind early as the Chargers (8-10, 6-3 GSC) won 2-of-3 doubles matches. Sophomore Brenna Keller and junior Christa Owen took the #1 point, however, grabbing a 9-8 (7-4) win.

Keller picked up another victory in singles action, winning the #1 point by a score of 7-5, 6-4.

UAH would go to win the other five singles matches to take the 7-2 victory. Freshman Ashley Ochsenhirt (#5) went the distance, but dropped the final set 10-4 to take the defeat.

The Lady Choctaws will close out the 2016 season on Sunday when they face Lee University in Huntsville, Ala. at 10:00 a.m. The match is being picked up after being originally scheduled for March 20th and being postponed due to rain.
