CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College softball team will close out the regular season this weekend by hosting Lee University for a three-game set at the MC Softball Complex. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday (2:00 pm), followed by a single game on Sunday (2:00 pm).
THE SENIORS
This weekend marks the final home games for three Lady Choctaw seniors in
Kimmie Conley,
Madison Oliver and
Carlie Sargent. Conley is a four-year starter for MC, while Oliver and Sargent both transferred from Southern Union State prior to their junior season.
THE COACHES
The Lady Choctaws are led by 10th-year head coach
Brooke O'Hair, who is the winningest skipper in Lady Choctaw history and picked up her 250th career win on February 28th against West Alabama. She has led MC to four 30-win seasons, three NCAA Regional appearances and two NCCAA World Series.
The Flames are led by 14th-year head coach Emily Russell, who has posted a 543-232-1 record, including six 40-win seasons.
THE SERIES
MC and Lee have met seven previous times over the past two years with the Flames winning all seven games. The teams met in the 2014 NCCAA MidEast Regional and played six times in the 2015 season.
LAST TIME OUT
The Lady Choctaws took a game from #25 UAH in Huntsville last weekend as Sargent tossed the first perfect game in school history. UAH came back with a 6-5 victory on a walk-off 3-run home run on Sunday.
The Flames have won 10 straight games, including a sweep of Christian Brothers last weekend that saw them outscore the Bucs 18-1 over the three games.
MILESTONE WATCH
Senior
Carlie Sargent is MC's all-time leader in strikeouts/game, posting 6.22 per contest in her career. She also ranks 3rd in school history in walks/game (1.24), 4th in strikeouts (305) and 6th in lowest ERA (1.98).
Senior infielder
Kimmie Conley ranks 3rd in school history in games played (171), 5th in walks (56), 6th in RBI (84), 8th in at-bats (448) and 9th in doubles (23).
Junior outfielder
Megan Everett is also climbing the record books, ranking 8th in MC history in hits (142) and RBI (79) and 9th in at-bats (446).
The Lady Choctaws set a school record with their 110th stolen base in the series at UAH. The previous record was 109 in 2014. The team's 27 home runs this season in the 2nd most in school history (37, 2011), whlie freshman
Kristen Qualls tied the single-season record with her 10th.

Qualls (.368) leads the team in average, doubles (10), home runs (10) and RBI (39). Junior
Tylan Buckley (.333) leads the team in runs scored (34) and ranks 2nd with nine home runs.

Megan Everett (.331) is tied with Qualls for the team-lead with 50 hits and has a team-high 151 at-bats this season. Over the last eight games, Oliver (.239) and freshman
Alexia Harmon (.315) have combined for 15 hits and six doubles with seven RBI.
Sargent (15-9, 1.77 ERA) eclipsed the 300 strikeout mark in her perfect game on Saturday and has the 2nd-most punchouts in a single season with 159. The record is 177 by Katie Waterbury in 2002. Freshman
Penny Nichols (13-7, 2.78 ERA) pitched four scorless innings against UAH.
Lexie Dean (.465) leads the Flames in batting average, while Emily Dagnan (.418) has a team-high 19 doubles, eight home runs and 49 RBI. Amanda Lynn (.426) has scored a team-high 51 runs with a team-high 23 stolen bases.
Angie Hughes (10-11, 4.96 ERA) leads Lee with 119 stirkeouts, while Leah Beatenbough (9-8, 5.11 ERA) has a team-high two saves.
