MOBILE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College women's tennis team opened their spring break trip with a 5-4 win over University of Mobile on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Choctaws (3-4), who will play three matches in four days on the Gulf Coast, opened the day with two doubles wins, led by junior
Christa Owen and sophomore
Katie Reid winning the #3 point by a score of 8-4.
Sophomore
Brenna Keller and freshman
Anna Shuliak clinched the lead after doubles action with an 8-6 win at the # 1 spot.
In singles play, MC needed to split six matches, and Shuliak got things going with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Silvia Martinkova at #3.
Junior
Courtney Schrock extended the lead with a straight-set win at #5 (6-4, 6-2), while freshman
Ashley Ochsenhirt clinched the overall victory with a straight-set win at #6 (6-2, 6-1).
The Lady Choctaws will be back in action on Monday when they face former American Southwest Conference rival McMurry at 4:00 p.m. in Orange Beach, Ala.
