CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College softball team will play their first Gulf South Conference home series this weekend, hosting the University of West Florida for a three-game set at the MC Softball Complex. The teams will play a single game on Friday at 6:30 pm, followed Saturday by a doubleheader at 2:00 pm.
THE COACHESThe Lady Choctaws are led by 10th-year head coach
Brooke O'Hair, who is the winningest skipper in Lady Choctaw history with 245 career victories. She has led MC to four 30-win seasons, three NCAA Regional appearances and two NCCAA World Series.
The Argonauts are led by 2nd-year head coach Melissa Paul, who is 28-34 in her career. She spent the 2014 season as an assistant at UWF after seven years as an assistant at Missouri and five years as the head coach at Marist College.
THE SERIESThe two schools have played 12 previous times with UWF holding an 11-1 edge the series. MC traveled to Pensacola last season, dropping 2-of-3 games but picking up a 7-4 win the series finale. Over the weekend, the Lady Choctaws outscored the Argos, 10-9.
LAST TIME OUTThe Lady Choctaws swept a doubleheader from Miles College on Wednesday, tallying 31 total hits and 21 runs. Freshman

Penny Nichols recorded a win and a save over the sweep.
MILESTONE WATCHJunior outfielder
Megan Everett (Pearland, Texas) became just the 20th player in school history to reach the century mark in hits, going 3-for-5 against Delta State last Saturday. Everett now has 103 hits in her three-year career.
Senior infielder
Kimmie Conley (Kenner, La.) ranks 29th in school history with 92 career hits and ranks 9th in school history with 68 career runs batted in.
Senior pitcher
Carlie Sargent (Oxford, Ala.) ranks 8th in school history with 162 career strikeouts and is 11th in innings pitched with 193.0.
THE MATCHUPThe Madison Central freshman duo of
Alexia Harmon (.447) and
Kristen Qualls (.424) are the team's leading hitters this season. Harmon has a team-high 17 hits, while Qualls is pacing MC with four home runs and 14 RBI and has hit safely in all 11 games this season.
Mathews (.379) has recorded two hits in each of the last four games and had three RBI in the doubleheader against Miles on Wednesday.
Nichols (3-3, 2.92 ERA) has led the pitching staff, while senior
Carlie Sargent (2-1, 4.02 ERA) has been sidelined with an injury.
Rhiannon Sassman (.405) leads the Argos with 17 hits, six doubles, two home runs and 17 RBI. Rachel Wright (.378) has scored a team-high 15 runs with five doubles. Caitlin Steel (.333) leads the team with four stolen bases on the year.
Becca Taylor (4-2, 2.29 ERA) has tossed a team-high 39.2 innings, while Kalyn Chapman (2-1, 3.44 ERA) leads the way with 29 strikeouts.
