CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's tennis team opened their home schedule with a 6-3 loss to Division I Alcorn State on Wednesday afternoon at the MC Tennis Complex.
The Lady Choctaws (0-2) opened their second straight match with wins in two of the three doubles matches as the MC #1 and #3 teams needed a tie-break to grab a 2-1 advantage.
Junior
Christa Owen and sophomore
Sofia Gonzalez-Carrera picked up an 8-7 (7-2) win at #1, while sohpomore
Karly Matthews and freshman
Ashley Ochsenhirt won their second straight match, 8-7 (7-3).
The Lady Braves would come back and win 5-of-6 singles matches to take the victory over MC.
Owen won the #5 singles point with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Marlene Maier.
Gonzalez-Carrera and junior
Courtney Schrock each went three sets in their losses.
The Lady Choctaws will be back in action next Wednesday when they open Gulf South Conference play by hosting Christian Brothers at 2:00 p.m.
