CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's soccer team will host their second home game against Florida Tech on Sunday at 4:00 p.m at Longabaugh Field.
The Choctaws (0-1) suffered a tough loss to Nova Southeastern 3-1 in their first match of the season, on Thursday. Junior
Kendall Carballo (Goicoechea, San Jose) led the attack as he scored his first goal of the season off an assist by junior
Tobias Betz (Munich, Germany).
Sophomore
Humberto Pelaez (Panama City, Panama) made seven saves in the match against the Sharks. Senior
Daniel Lang (Jackson, Miss.) and
Perry Goldsbury (Derby England) led the defense that allowed just 10 shots on goal.
Florida Tech travels from Melbourne, Fla. to play their second match of the season. They faced Union (Tenn.) on Friday and came out with a 5-1 win. Adin Kavara recorded two goals against Union and led the Panther offense last season with 12 finishes. The Panthers finished their 2014 season with an overall record of 11-5-2. They are projected to finish third in the SSC Men's Soccer Preseason Poll as they return nine starters and four All-Conference performers.
The Chcotaws have just two more matches before their conference play begins against rival, Delta State on Wednesday, September 16th at 4:00 p.m. in Cleveland, Miss.
