CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team will continue their four-match homestand as they host Alabama Huntsville on Friday, followed by a Sunday match against West Alabama. Both matches are scheduled to kick off at 1:30 p.m. at Longabaugh Field.
The Lady Choctaws (5-0-1, 1-0 GSC) will play eight straight Gulf South Conference matches starting on Friday and are currently 1-0 in the GSC as they defeated Delta State 4-1 on September 8th.
A balanced scoring attack has led MC this season with senior
Sayit Mejia Bello (Bogota Colombia) and sophomore
Caitlin Hayes (Warrington, England) scoring four goals apiece while Bello has contributed four helpers and Hayes with one assist. Freshman
Gaylynn Cooper (Jackson, Miss.) and
Sydney Oliver (Kingwood, Texas) have each added three scores. The MC offense has put up 133 shots with 19 goals this season.
In the back, senior
Meghan Dodge (Palm Harbor, Fla.),
Eri Unai (Saitama, Japan), junior
Madison Leonard (Cantonment, Fla.) and Hayes have kept their opponents to just 46 shots. Freshman
Andrea McDonald (New Orleans, La.) has spent all 560 minutes between the posts for the Lady Choctaws with four shutouts in the first six matches. She has posted a 0.32 goals against average with 16 saves.
Alabama Huntsville's (3-3-1, 0-2 GSC) attack is led by Alexcia Alexander who has recorded seven goals with two helpers and Sydney Pfankuch with five scores and four helpers. The offense has tallied 86 shots with 23 goals. Larae Breaux is in goal for the Lady Chargers facing 116 shots with 49 saves and a 1.94 goals against average.
West Alabama's (3-1, 1-0 GSC) offensive line is a balanced effort as Katy Morris has put in four goals with two helpers, while Kirsten Reilly has had two finishes with four assists. Both Beth Preston and Mia Harvey have added three goals apiece. Issy Foster is in goal for the Lady Tigers making three shutouts with 16 saves and a 0.96 goals against average.
