CLINTON, Miss. ---The Mississippi College women's soccer team will open the 2015 season Thursday against Belhaven with the match set to begin at 4:00 p.m at Robert P. Longabaugh Field.
The Lady Choctaws went 9-8-1 in their first season in Division II and the Gulf South Conference.
Seniors
Sayit Mejia Bello (Bogota, Colombia) and
Meghan Dodge (Palm Harbor, Fla.) return to the team after a successful 2014 season. Mejia Bello led the team in points with 10 goals and four assists. Dodge helped lead a defense that posted two shutouts while recording one assist.
Belhaven will travel from Jackson, Miss. for their season opener against the Lady Choctaws. The Blazers closed their 2014 season with an overall record of 4-12.
Last season the Lady Choctaws opened their season against the Blazers and picked up a 6-0 win. Both Mejia Bello and
Melanie Benner recorded two goals and one assist each in the game. MC dominated the play as they took 27 shots to just three for the Blazers.
MC will play their first GSC game on Tuesday, September 8th in Cleveland, Miss. as they travel to Delta State for a 3:00 p.m. game.
