CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's soccer team will open the 2015 season Thursday against Nova Southeastern.
The match is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start at Robert P. Longabaugh Field on MC's campus.
The Choctaws are coming off of a successful introductory season in the Gulf South Conference as they won the National Christian College Athletic Association MidEast Region championship. They were also named the #1 national seed at the NCCAA Tournament and finished the season with an overall record of 12-6-2 and a 5-4-0 GSC record.
The Choctaws return 18 players including seniors
Ewahia Amhanesi (Mesquite, Texas) and
Daniel Lang (Jackson, Miss.). Amhanesi placed fourth on the team with six goals for the Choctaws. Lang missed last year due to a knee injury but is ready to lead a successful defense this season.
Nova Southeastern travels from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. for their season opener against the Choctaws after going 6-9-2 on the 2014 season.
This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
