CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's soccer team will travel to Cleveland, Miss. to take on rival Delta State on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m for their first Gulf South Conference match of the season.
The Choctaws (0-3) have started off the season with tough competition from Florida as they faced Nova Southeastern, Florida Tech and Barry.
Leading the MC offense is
Kendall Carballo (Goicoechea, San Jose) who has tallied the only goal for MC this season off an assist by
Tobias Betz (Munich, Germany) in the game against Nova Southeastern. MC has had 23 shots on goal so far this season.
MC's defense is led by senior
Josh Barrera (Houston, Texas),
Perry Goldsbury (Derby England), and
Daniel Lang (Jackson, Miss.) who have kept their opponents to just 44 shots.
Humberto Pelaez (Panama City, Panama) is between the posts for the Choctaws making 15 saves.
Delta State (0-3) has tallied two goals this season, coming from Brock Hollier and Luke Mason. Time is split in goal for the Statesmen between Jacob Hauenstein and Jonathan Hilton. Hauenstein has recorded 11 saves while Hilton has tallied nine saves.
The Choctaws have faced Delta State five times within last three years recording two wins, two losses and one tie. The Statesmen have recorded 10 goals to the Choctaws nine scores.
