MOBILE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College women's tennis team wrapped up the 2015 season with a 5-1 loss to Shorter University in the semifinals of the National Christian College Athletic Association Tournament, held at the Mobile Tennis Center.
The Lady Choctaws (11-10) finished their first season back in Division II and the Gulf South Conference with a record above .500 and four wins in league play, despite having just one upperclassman on the roster.
In doubles action, sophomore
Courtney Schrock and freshman
Brenna Keller erased a 4-1 deficit at #2, coming back for an 8-6 victory.
The Lady Hawks (21-5), who are the reigning NCCAA national champions, would win the other two doubles matches by scores of 8-2.
In singles action, Shorter needed just three victories to clinch a spot in the championship and they got straight-set wins at #2, #4 and #6.
Freshman
Katie Reid received the NCCAA Women's Tennis Sportsmanship Award.
