MOBILE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College women's tennis team dropped their final Pool B match of the NCCAA Tournament to #30 Dallas Baptist, 5-0, on Wednesday afternoon at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center.
Despite the loss, the Lady Choctaws (11-9) advance to the semifinals of the tournament and will face Gulf South Conference opponent #23 Shorter University at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday.
The Lady Choctaws dropped the three doubles matches to the Patriots (15-3) with the closest coming at #3 when they freshman team of
Karly Matthews and
Katie Reid lost, 9-7.
In singles play, DBU needed just two wins to clinch Pool B, and they picked up a couple of straight set wins at #4 and #6. The other four singles matches went unfinished.
The Lady Choctaws will face Shorter for the second time this season after meeting in Clinton back on April 10th. MC opened the match with two doubles wins, but the Hawks bounced back and won 4-of-6 singles to get the road victory.
