JACKSON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College softball team will travel across town for a mid-week doubleheader against Jackson State University on Wednesday night at the JSU Softball Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
The Lady Choctaws (21-14) and the Lady Tigers (15-22) will meet for the very first time on Wednesday.
MC is coming off a 3-2 week that saw them sweep a doubleheader from Belhaven, but drop 2-of-3 games at West Florida over the weekend. Junior
Carlie Sargent led a pitching effort against the Blazers that allowed just one run in 14.0 innings. The Oxford, Ala. native had a perfect game through 4.0 innings.

Megan Everett (.380) is the team's leading hitter, also pacing the team with 30 RBI and 46 hits. Senior
Karla Beth Hux (.377) is tied with senior
Tori Bankston for the team-lead with three home runs.

Shay Mickens (.360) leads the team with 23 stolen bases in 23 attempts, while senior
Macey Lee is just behind with 16 swipes.
Sargent (14-7, 2.35 ERA) leads the team with 116.1 innings pitched, 98 strikeouts and nine complete games. Senior
Lacie Patterson (4-5, 3.39 ERA) has been hot in the circle, allowing just seven hits and two runs over her last 11.1 innings pitched.
Amy Lara (.352) is JSU's top hitter, pacing the squad with two home runs and ranking second with 24 RBI. Ashley Neal (.291) leads the team with 26 RBI and is tied with Lyndsey Colvin with a team-high eight doubles.
The Lady Tigers are 86-of-110 stealing bases this season, led by Victori Nelson (28) and Canessa Swanson (26) with 54 swipes combined.
The pitching staff for JSU has posted a team-ERA of 5.26 this season with 36 home runs allowed. Kelsey Townsend (11-9, 4.15 ERA) leasd the team with 130.0 innings pitched and 74 strikeouts.
The Lady Choctaws will next be in action this weekend when they will host rival Delta State for a three-game series, beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
