HATTIESBURG, Miss. --- The Mississippi College softball team will play their final non-conference games of the season on Wednesday night when they travel for a doubleheader with William Carey at 4:00 p.m.
The Lady Choctaws (23-17) and the Lady Crusaders (31-12) played a twin-bill back on February 12th in Clinton with William Carey walking away with two wins.
In the opener, MC jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but WC bounced back with a 4-run fourth inning and picked up a 6-2 win. The second game went extra innings with William Carey taking a 6-4 win.
The Lady Choctaws had all five of their scheduled games last week rained out and have not played since April 12th when they closed out the series with rival Delta State with a 2-1 loss.
Senior
Shay Mickens (.385) is the team's leading hitter with 55 hits and a team-high 26 stolen bases. She now has 72 stolen bases in just two seasons, sitting just 12 behind Jennifer Jones (2008-11).
Sophomore
Megan Everett (.372) leads the team with 33 RBI, while seniors
Tori Bankston (.311) and
Karla Beth Hux (.342) have a team-high three home runs apiece.
Junior
Ashley Subervielle (.306) leads the team with 12 doubles, while senior
Macey Lee (.255) is second on the team with 17 stolen bases.
Junior
Carlie Sargent (15-9, 2.42 ERA) leads the team with 133.1 innings pitched and 108 strikeouts. She has tossed 10 complete games with two shutouts.
Senior
Lacie Patterson (5-5, 2.97 ERA) has been sharp lately, allowing just four earned runs over her last six appearances, totaling 26.1 innings.
The Lady Crusaders split two conference doubleheaders last week against Martin Methodist and Bethel (TN).They had allowed eight runs over a seven-game span before Bethel scored 11 in their last contest.
Hannah Cook-Kelley (.398) is the team's leading hitter with 12 doubles and five home runs. Her 27 RBI is second to Kimberly Gilbert (.317) for the team-lead.
Relanda McFarland (.389) leads the team with six doubles and 15 of the team's 26 stolen bases.
Hannah Moak (13-5, 2.13 ERA) leads the team with 115.0 innings pitched and 87 strikeouts in 23 appearances. Brittany Lang (11-4, 3.33 ERA) leads the team with two saves.
