PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The Mississippi College women's tennis team picked up their second straight Gulf South Conference win with a 6-3 victory over West Georgia on Sunday afternoon at UWF Tennis Complex.
The Lady Choctaws (5-4, 2-2 GSC) opened the day with a doubles victory at #1 as sophomore
Christa Owen and freshman
Sofia Gonzalez-Carrera got an 8-3 victory.
After the Wolves (8-7, 1-7 GSC) won at #2, sophomore
Courtney Schrock and freshman
Brenna Keller won the #3 point, 8-5.
In singles action, Gonzalez-Carrera won her seventh straight match, taking the #1 point with a 6-4, 6-1 win. The rookie from Rio Cuarto, Cordoba, Argentina has not lost since the season-opener against Division I Alcorn State.
Freshman
Katie Reid and Schrock grabbed straight-set victories at #2 and #4, respectively. Owen needed three sets to get the final point for MC, picking up a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 victory at #3.
The Lady Choctaws will be back in action on Tuesday when they will host Lindenwood University at 2:00 p.m. at the MC Tennis Complex.
