CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's tennis team picked up an exciting victory over Lee University on Saturday, winning the final match on the court for a 5-4 victory at the MC Tennis Complex.
The Lady Choctaws (4-4, 1-2 GSC) were able to grab an early advantage as the won the #1 and #3 doubles points. Freshman
Brenna Keller and sophomore
Courtney Schrock went an extra game to take a 9-7 win, while freshman
Sofia Gonzalez-Carrera and sophomore
Christa Owen won, 8-6.
In singles play, the Lady Flames (5-6, 1-6 GSC) were able to come back and tie the match 4-4 with Schrock on the court against Krista Good for the deciding point. After dropping the opening set, Schrock bounced back and picked the three-set victory to clinch the win (4-6, 6-1, 6-4).
Gonzalez-Carrera and Owen also won their singles matches to help MC pick up their first Gulf South Conference win since making the move back this season.
The Lady Choctaws will be back in action tomorrow when they travel to Pensacola, Fla. to face West Georgia at 1:00 p.m.
