CLEVELAND, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's tennis team opened Gulf South Conference play on Saturday with a 6-3 loss to rival Delta State.
The Lady Choctaws (1-2, 0-1 GSC) opened with a win at #1 doubles as sophomore
Christa Owen and freshman
Sofia Gonzalez-Carrera picked up an 8-2 win over Charlotte Le Flohic and Sophie Niameyer. The Lady Statesmen would win the other two doubles matches, taking a 2-1 lead.
MC would pick up singles victories at #1 and #2 as Gonzalez-Carerra defeated Le Flohic (6-0, 6-2) and freshman
Katie Reid took down Katrina Assmann (6-3, 6-4). DSU would sweep the final four matches to collect the conference win.
The Lady Choctaws will be back in action on Sunday when they travel to face Christian Brothers at 11:00 a.m.
