ARKADELPHIA, Ark. --- The Mississippi College women's tennis team went on the road and picked up a 6-3 victory at the Heflin Tennis Center over Ouachita Baptist.
The Lady Choctaws (1-1) opened the match with a sweep of doubles action, taking a 3-0 lead. The #1 doubles team of 
Sofia Gonzalez-Carrera and 
Christa Owen needed extra points to earn the sweep, taking down Valeriya Mansvetova and Vanja Bogetic (9-8 (1)).
Freshmen 
Katie Reid and 
Karly Matthews picked up an 8-6 win at #2, while sophmores 
Courtney Schrock and 
Laura VanHorn won at #3, 8-5.
In singles play, the Lady Choctaws needed to just two victories to clinch the match, and they ended up with three straight set victories. Gonzalez-Carrera won the deciding match at #1 over Mansvetova (6-4, 6-4). Schrock and sophomore 
Katherine Farmer also picked up easy victories at #4 and #6, respectively.
The Lady Choctaws are scheduled to be back in action this Friday when they will host Alabama Huntsville at 2:00 p.m. at the MC Tennis Complex.
