CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's tennis team opened the 2015 season with an 8-1 loss to Division I Alcorn State University on Wednesday afternoon at the MC Tennis Complex.
The Lady Choctaws (0-1) picked up the first point of the day when the freshmen team of
Karly Matthews and
Katie Reid picked up an 8-3 victory at the #2 doubles over Siobhan Ryan-Bovey and Ekaterina Potopova.
The Lady Braves took over from there with wins at the #1 and #3 doubles. In singles play, freshman
Sofia Gonzalez-Carrera took the #1 match to three sets, falling to Aida Kelic (6-0, 1-6, 6-2).
The Lady Choctaws will be back in action on Tuesday, February 24th when they travel to face Ouachita Baptist in Arkadelphia, Ark. at 2:00 p.m.
