CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team will wrap up their regular season with "Senior Day" on Friday when they will host North Alabama at 1:00 p.m. at Longabaugh Filed.
The Lady Choctaws (12-2-3, 7-2-2 GSC) will celebrate "Senior Day" prior to Friday's match, honoring four players including,
Robin Cooper,
Meghan Dodge,
Sayit Mejia Bello and
Eri Unai for their last regular season home game at Longabaugh Field.
A balanced effort by both the offensive and defensive lines have posted 41 goals for the Lady Choctaws. Freshman
Jess Davenport (Widness, England) leads the attack with 10 goals and three helpers. Senior
Sayit Mejia Bello (Bogota, Colombia) has contributed five finishes with seven assists while junior
Sydney Oliver (Kingwood, Texas) has posted six scores with one assist.
The back line is a strong force posting 10 shutouts on the season.
Meghan Dodge, freshman
Lauren Dodge (Palm Harbor, Fla.), sophomore Caitlyn Hayes (Warrington, England), and junior
Madison Leonard (Cantonment, Fla.) have kept their opponents to just 11 goals on the season. Not only does the defense protect their goal but they have contributed eight goals and 11 helpers to the offence's success. Hayes has headed in seven goals with one helper,
Meghan Dodge has recorded seven assists and Leonard has converted one goal with three assists.
Between the posts for MC is freshman
Andrea McDonald (New Orleans, La.) McDonald has posted a 0.64 goals against average, which would rank third in MC history. She has made 54 saves with nine shutouts.
Last season the Lady Choctaws fell to North Alabama, 3-0. Three different Lions scored including Danielle Scanlon, Chloe Richards and Eleanor Costello.
North Alabama (12-2-1, 8-2 GSC) has put in 43 goals on the season. Chloe Richards leads the offense with 26 goals and two assists while Kylie Huey has posted six goals with four helpers. In goal for the Tigers is Shelby Thornton facing 175 shots while making 64 saves. She has posted a 0.94 goals against average with three shutouts on the season.
MC has already qualified for the NCCAA MidEast Region Tournament, with the schedule to be released later.
