CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's soccer team will end their regular season with "Senior Day" as they host Ouachita Baptist on Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Longabaugh Field.
The Choctaws (4-10-1, 2-6-1 GSC) will celebrate "Senior Day" prior to Friday's match, honoring five players, stepping on the field for their final home game at Longabaugh Field.
Ewahia Amhanesi,
Josh Barrera,
Dyllon Beasley,
Perry Goldsbury and
Daniel Lang will be recognized.
The Choctaws come off a split weekend defeating Spring Hill 2-1 and falling to West Florida 2-1 in double-overtime.
Leading the Choctaw offense is junior
Kendall Carballo (San Jose, Costa Rica) with five goals and four assists. Amhanesi leads the team with six helpers to go along with two finishes. Both
Jorge Delgado (Juarez, Mexico) and junior
Conor Corboy (Aptos, Calif) have recorded four goals apiece.
The defense is led by Barrera, Goldsbury, Lang, and sophomore
Elliot Rimmer (Clinton, Miss.) who have kept their opponents to 22 goals on the season. In goal for the Choctaws is sophomore
Humberto Pelaez (Panama City, Panama) who has posted a 1.45 goals against average, making 71 saves with two shutouts on the season.
Last season the Choctaws came from behind to pick up a 3-2 win over Ouachita Baptist. The Tigers got an early lead as Logan Hampton scored in the 5th minutes.
Brian Vasquez and
Stephen Roberson then scored giving the Choctaws a 2-1 lead. Blake Beshirs of OBU tied the match in the 79th minute. Two minutes later Roberson scored again to clinch the game for the Choctaws.
Leading the Tigers (5-9-1) offense is Tinashe Chigede with five goals and two assists. Sewell Yost has posted two goals to go along with three helpers while both Dylan Tritton and Ryan Trayner have recorded three goals apiece. The Tiger offense has converted 20 goals this season. Between the posts for Ouachita Baptist is Nelson Pacheco who has posted a 2.04 goals against average, making 46 saves with one shutout victory.
