CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team will take their last regular season road trip to Mobile, Ala. on Friday to face Springhill at 1:00 p.m. and then Pensacola, Fla. to take on West Florida at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
The Lady Choctaws (11-1-3, 6-1-2 GSC) are coming off a 5-0 win over Millsaps as three different MC players scored including freshman
Jess Davenport (Widness, England) with two goals, and junior
Sydney Oliver (Kingwood, Texas) and freshman
Gaylynn Cooper (Jackson, Miss.) with one goal apiece.
MC's offense is a balanced effort as a number of players have contributed to the 39 goals posted this season. Davenport leads the offense with nine goals and three helpers. Defender sophomore
Caitlin Hayes (Warrington, England) has recorded seven goals all coming from headers and one helper while senior
Sayit Mejia Bello (Bogota, Colombia) has posted four tallies with six helpers. Oliver has put six in the back of the net with one assist while Cooper has contributed five goals with one assist.
The Lady Choctaws back line is led by senior
Meghan Dodge and freshman
Lauren Dodge (Palm Harbor, Fla.), Hayes, and junior
Madison Leonard (Cantonment, Fla.) who have kept their opponents to 131 shots on the season.
Between the posts for the Lady Choctaws is freshman
Andrea McDonald (New Orleans, La.) who has made 36 saves with eight shutout victories. McDonald has posted a 0.58 goals against average and kept their opponents to just nine goals on the season.
In the 2014 season, the Lady Choctaws picked up a 3-0 win against Spring Hill (1-9-3, 1-8-1 GSC) as
Sayit Mejia Bello had two goals and
Macey Lee had one finish.
The Badgers attack is led by Madison Camet who has contributed three scores with one assist. Darby Rasch has posted one goal with four helpers while Lillian DeSousa has recorded two finishes. In goal for the Badgers is Maggie Dalessio making 87 saves with three shutout victories and posting a 2.56 goals against average.
Last season the Lady Choctaws dropped to West Georgia (9-4, 5-3 GSC) 2-1. The Lady Argonauts got on the board first as April Syme scored in the 33rd minute. The Lady Choctaws came back in the 82nd minute to tie the game when
Kaitlyn Kiss converted a goal off a penalty kick. Nearly 30 seconds later, Darryl Bell scored for West Georgia giving them the win 2-1.
The Lady Argonauts offense is a balanced effort converting 29 goals on the season. Kaley Ward has tallied eight finishes with three helpers while Daryl Bell has converted seven goals with five assists. Amber Pennybaker has posted seven goals with three helpers on the season. Between the posts for West Georgia is Ana Chumik who has made 14 saves while posting a 0.91 goals against average with one shutout victory.
