CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team will travel to Carrolton, Ga. to face West Georgia on Friday at 3:00 p.m. (Central). They will then welcome Valdosta State on Sunday for a 1:00 p.m. contest at Longabaugh Field.
The Lady Choctaws (6-1-1, 2-1 GSC) have a balanced scoring effort leading their front line. Sophomore
Caitlin Hayes (Warrington, England) leads the team in points with six goals all coming from headers and one assist. Senior
Sayit Mejia Bello (Bogota, Colombia) has tallied four goals and four assists.
Freshman
Jess Davenport (Widness, England) and junior
Sydney Oliver (Kingwood, Texas) have recorded five goals apiece with Davenport tallying two helpers. Freshman
Gaylynn Cooper (Jackson, Miss.) has posted four goals with one assist on the season. The Lady Choctaws have recorded 28 goals on the season.
In the back, senior
Meghan Dodge (Palm Harbor, Fla.),
Eri Unai (Saitama, Japan), junior
Madison Leonard (Cantonment, Fla.) and Hayes have kept their opponents to just 69 shots. The MC defense has been extremely effective in contributing to the offense's success as Dodge leads the team with seven helpers and Leonard has recorded one goal with three assists. Freshman
Andrea McDonald (New Orleans, La.) is between the posts for the Choctaws, posting a 0.74 goals against average with 21 saves and four shutout victories.
West Georgia's (5-4, 3-2 GSC) offense has depth as Cortney Emmert, Susana Abundiz, and Kelly Geary have each recorded three goals apiece along with Emmert posting two assists and Abundiz with one helper. Kyla Wright-Marshall, Kara Barber, Katie Mitchell, and Cari Powell have all recorded two goals with two assists. Their offense has tallied 129 shots to their opponents 117 shots. Katie Miklausich is in goal for the Lady Wolves and has posted a 0.66 goals against average making 21 saves with three shutout victories.
Valdosta State (2-6, 1-3 GSC) will travel to Clinton from Valdosta, Ga. The Blazers attack is led by Madison Cutts and Jordan Humbert who have each recorded two goals. Logan Lindy has posted one goal with one helper and Suvi Savolainen has recorded one goal on the season. McCall Gardner is in goal for the Blazers posting a 1.87 goals against average while making 48 saves with one shutout victory.
