Women's Soccer Welcomes Spring Hill and West Florida for Final Home Weekend

CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's soccer team will host Spring Hill and West Florida to finish their 2014 home schedule. MC will face Spring Hill on Friday at 1:00 p.m. and West Georgia on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Robert P. Longabaugh Field.

The Lady Choctaws (8-6-1, 3-5-1 GSC) are coming off a hard-fought weekend as they fell to Shorter and Lee both by 1-0 scores. MC needs a win and a draw in their final three matches to qualify for the NCCAA MidEast Regional.

The offense is led by a number of players who have each contributed to the 38 goals tallied this season. Junior Sayit Mejia Bello leads the scoring effort, tallying eight goals with four helpers. Senior Macey Lee has tallied seven goals and Melanie Benner with six. Benner is MC's all-time leader with 31 career assists, including eight this season. Lee has now tallied 57 career goals putting her just one goal behind Jennifer Benson's (2003-06) record of 58 finishes.  She is also second in MC history with 132 points, just behind Benson, who had 135.

In goal for the Lady Choctaws is junior Robin Cooper. Cooper has tallied 1,125 minutes between the posts, making 38 saves with a 1.52 goals against average. Sophomore Melanie Hummert allowed just one goal with seven saves in Sunday's loss to Lee.

MC will celebrate "Senior Day" prior to Sunday's game against West Florida, honoring 10 players playing their final home games at Longabaugh Field.

Spring Hill (3-8-2, 1-7-2 GSC) has struggled in conference play so far this season as they have tallied 16 goals on the season. Leading their attack with 18 points is Courtney Harlan who has put eight in the back of the net and has contributed to two other goals. Hannah Michael has tallied three goals giving her six points for the season.

Time between the posts for Springhill is split by Maggie Dalessio and Abby Massengale. Dalessio has tallied 51 saves with a 3.42 goals against average. Massengale has saved 34 with a 1.42 goals against average. Their opponents have gotten 34 goals through the Badgers defense.

West Florida (7-5, 5-3 GSC) women's soccer team has had 204 shots and has managed to put in 26 goals this season. April Syme has tallied six goals for the Argonauts and Sara Helgadottir has put in four goals and assisted on four others. In goal for West Georgia is Emily Grammer with a 1.37 goals against average. She has made 26 saves between the posts this season. The Argonauts defense has faced 91 shots and allowed 15 goals by their opponents.

The Lady Choctaws are 2-1 all-time against Spring Hill, and this will be their first-ever meeting against West Florida.
