CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College football team fell to #23 Valdosta State on Saturday afternoon at Robinson-Hale Stadium, 62-0.
The Choctaws (1-5, 0-3 GSC) opened up their "Homecoming" game with a 3-and-out on defense, forcing the Blazers (4-2, 2-2 GSC) to punt and taking over at their own 19-yard line. After an MC punt, Valdosta drove down and Cedric O'Neal appeared to be heading into the end zone to open the scoring, but a fumble just before the goal line was recovered by senior
Dylan Klibert for a touchback. Klibert is the reigning NCCAA Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week.
The Choctaws were forced to punt on their next possession, and the Blazers were able to get on the board on their next drive with an 8-yard touchdown run from quarterback Jake Medlock. The game would go into the second quarter with the score 7-0, but VSU was able to put 28 points on the board in the frame and go into the half with a 35-0 advantage.
Medlock was 19-of-20 passing for 248 yards and three touchdowns, also rushing for 35 yards and a score. The Blazers had 651 yards of total offense with 344 on the ground and 307 through the air.

Adrian Cerrato had a career night for the Choctaws, rushing a career-high 12 times for a career-high 57 yards. Freshman quarterback
Kyle Smith had 47 rushing yards on eight carries, including a 23-yard run.

Reggie Bennett led the Choctaw defense with 10 tackles, including eight solo stops. Freshman
Kaleb Coleman earned his first career start, with the loss of senior
Jake Weddle to an injury, and he did not disappoint with five tackles and a sacks on the day. Senior

Brannon Schaffer had seven tackles.
Kenny Murphy led the Blazers with seven tackles, while Tavaris Williams had six.
The Choctaws will be back in action next Saturday when they travel to Melbourne, Fla. to play Florida Tech. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. (ET), 12:00 p.m (CT).
