Freshman Kaleigh Akers (Daphne, Ala.) helped lead the Mississippi College cross country team to a fourth place finish with 117 points at the Choctaw Open 5K on Saturday. Akers ran her best 5K time of the season, 19:55.42 to finish 17th out of 132 runners with an average time per mile of 6:30.

The Lady Choctaws will be back in action on Saturday as they head to Moundville, Ala. for the Gulf South Conference Championships set to begin at 9:00 a.m.
