The Mississippi College softbal team has opened the 2015 season with a 3-1 record at the Ronnie Hawkins Invitational, hosted by Henderson State University and Ouachita Baptist University.  

Against Arkansas-Monticello, junior Carlie Sargent (Oxford, Ala.) tossed a complete game with 10 strikeouts and just three hits allowed. UAM only managed to record one unearned run in the second inning. 

Against Missouri Southern, Sargent held MSSU hitless over 5.0 innings and allowed just one unearned run. She struck out four batters. She finished the tournament with 12.0 innings pitched, 14 strikeouts and two victories. 

The Lady Choctaws will be back in action on Thursday as they host William Carey in a double header at 3:00 p.m. at MC Softball Complex.
