CLINTON, MS - Mississippi College senior safety Corey Cooley was chosen as this week's American Southwest Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in last week's stunning 27-26 come-from-behind victory over Millsaps College in the Backyard Brawl.

Cooley, a former standout at Seminary High School, posted nine tackles – seven solo stops – and one sack for a loss of nine yards to go along with a game-clinching interception in the fourth quarter that allowed the Choctaws to run out the clock.

Cooley is entering his third season at Mississippi College as the starting strong safety.
